About Us
Manchester House is a family owned and operated five (all private rooms) bed assisted living, on 3.5 acres in Derwood Maryland. It is a level 3 facility, licensed by Montgomery County Health and Human Services and by the Maryland Office of Healthcare Quality. Our Management Team is comprised of a nurse practitioner, a registered nurse and a healthcare administrator. We provide well-trained and experienced caregivers who are supervised by registered nurses.

What You Need To Know
Our workers are thoroughly screened. The screening process includes but is not limited to:
- Criminal Background Check
- Tuberculosis Screening
- Random Drug Screening
- Previous Employment Verification
- Personal Reference Check
- Proof of Covid-19 Vaccination
All care is provided at the facility. Residents are allowed to have their own doctors, but there is a Nurse Practitioner who does house visits.
Our Management Team
Sonia has been working in the health care field for three decades. She began her career at Bethesda Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, (Now Manor Care Health Services - Chevy Chase) and has worked at some of the most prominent facilities in the DC metropolitan area as a direct caregiver. She has also taken many private duty cases in the DC area, where she developed a reputation for compassionate care. Her level of excellence in patient care led to her being acknowledged in the book, ‘Nurse, A World of Care,’ (authored by Peter Jaret, foreword by President Jimmy Carter.) Sonia has a BA in Education and a B.Sc. in Healthcare Administration.
Kristene is a Nurse Practitioner with a very extensive and diverse background. She has worked in critical care, cardiac and mental health nursing. She obtained both her BSN (in 2007) and MSN (in 2013) degrees from the University of Maryland. She received her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner credentials in 2022.
Ms. Smith is a delegating nurse /case manager authorized to teach the Certified Medication Technician course in Maryland.
Kevin obtained his bachelor’s in nursing from Towson University in 2014. Prior to becoming a nurse, Kevin worked as a pharmaceutical sales rep for Merck. He discovered his passion and love for nursing and helping others while his younger brother was in the hospital. Kevin’s natural ability to comfort and care for others while they are sick was pointed out to him during this time. He is presently pursuing his master's degree in mental health.
